Ankylosis

Ankylosis refers to the abnormal fusion of joints, resulting in loss of mobility. It can occur due to various factors such as trauma, infection, or chronic inflammation.

Bilateral Total Joint Replacement (TJR).

She developed ankylosis as a result of facial trauma that which lead to temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction and limited jaw movement. The patient had undergone multiple unsuccessful TMJ procedures, including the use of proplast Teflon implants. As a consequence, her maximal incisal opening (MIO) was zero, indicating complete restriction of jaw movement.
